- Our practice is limited to orthodontic treatment for children, teens and adults.
- For multidisciplinary cases we work together with very good specialists in a particular dental field.
The purpose of the orthodontic treatment is to obtain a healthy and functional ”bite”, which is part teeth alignment and part jaws position, with the final result an attractive face and smile.
Your first consultation will give you the opportunity to receive an initial complete exam and to find out more about orthodontic treatment and the next steps for starting treatment.
In accordance with American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) the first orthodontic visit for your children is no later than age 7 and then we will decide the best timing for orthodontic treatment. There are a few indications which may need early treatment, underbites, cross bites, crowded or severely misplaced teeth, chewing or biting difficulties, speech problems, or mouth breathing. Early intervention may avoid complicated treatment in the future, can guide jaw growth, create more space for crowded teeth. It is not recommended to wait until all permanent teeth have come in, because correction of some orthodontic problems cannot be possible once the face and jaws are no longer growing. So, the orthodontic treatment for teens can be faster and more efficient if it’s timed with growth.
The AAO recommends orthodontic treatment for adults for the following reasons:
• can help prevent or improve periodontal problems
• can help prevent or reduce further bone loss around teeth
• improve the ability of the dentist to restore missing teeth
• improve esthetics for a better smile and facial appearance
• improve function of teeth
• improve self-confidence and self-esteem
• improve oral health
By working together, in a dental team, we can achieve the best results that cannot be achieved alone. Often the best esthetic and functional results for adult patients, but not only, cannot be achieved without orthognathic surgical treatment.
Understanding your concern about esthetics during orthodontic treatment we can offer you a customized orthodontic solutions for your lifestyle, including invisible orthodontic appliances.
Related to malocclusions and orthodontic treatment we are specialized in orofacial pain treatment, including temporomandibular disorders and sleep related breathing disorders.
